Kitchen Storage: Keeping all the Containers Contained

Kitchen storage containers (Tupperware, Pyrex, Rubbermaid: the options are never-ending!) are the worst when it comes to a neat and tidy space. You always need it. It’s always coming out of the dishwasher just to be used again. It’s everywhere and nowhere all the time. So what’s the solution? How can we make this pain point in our kitchens go away?

When possible, dedicating a drawer to the storage continers is the best option. Next, pick containers that work well together. I like this option because one top style fits multiple size containers and they nest well. You also want to understand the sizes you use often and order something that will actually meet your needs.

I store the containers together and then the tops on the side of the drawer. To separate the tops from the bottoms I use this drawer divider

If you don't have a drawer you can dedicate to storage containers, place it all in a bin. This way you can pull it onto the counter, find what you need and easily put it away. When it’s loose on a shelf it will get messy quickly!

Tupperware is typically a very active item in your kitchen so don't get frustrated when the drawer (or bin) gets messy. Inevitably, it will. However, it will take you only a minute to refresh and reset the space. The idea that we can organize a space once and be done is a false idea the world gives us. There isn’t a perfect product that will all of a sudden make everything organized all the time unless you hire a live-in organizer to reset your home constantly.

Good luck and let us know how we can help!
